It’s impossible to please everyone, and not every player can be universally liked. A footballer is always open to criticism and will inevitably have haters, whether in real life or on social media. That is exactly what Jamal Musiala is experiencing.
Having recently renewed his contract with Bayern Munich, Musiala has come under criticism from former Germany international Dietmar Hamann in an interview with Sky90.
The ex-Liverpool and Bayern Munich midfielder was asked to choose between Germany's two rising stars, to which he responded: "For me, Wirtz is in a different league compared to Musiala at the moment. Wirtz makes every player in his team better. I don't think Musiala makes many players better. He makes the team better when what he does works. Compared to Wirtz, he is an individual player.
"For me, Wirtz is currently a potential world-class footballer in one or two years. Wirtz is always involved, always has his head up, and always finds the better-positioned teammate. Musiala doesn’t do that. He needs to add more variety to his game to become less predictable. The question is whether he can learn that. If his dribbling isn’t working, he’s not in the game."
