Xabi Alonso on Real Madrid rumours: "I am 100 per cent focused on Leverkusen"

Xabi Alonso had a good season as Bayer Leverkusen coach, to such an extent that several top teams began to show interest in him for next season.
Tottenham, for example, were the latest to join the list of candidates who want to hire the former footballer. Following the sackings of Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini, the London club have the former Madrid midfielder as one of their main options for the bench.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, have not ruled out signing him if Carlo Ancelotti leaves for Brazil at the end of the season. The Spaniard is one of the possibilities being considered by the board.
However, the Spanish coach gave a press conference before the Bundesliga game against Koln and admitted that he has no plans to leave Germany. His wish is to continue at Leverkusen for the next season.
"I've been in football for many years, rumours are normal but we still have a lot to achieve. That's why my head is 100 percent here for the last few months. And my head is also 100 percent here for next season," Xabi Alonso said when asked by journalists.
Thus, for the time being, the former Spain midfielder rules out the possibility of changing clubs in the middle of the year. We will have to see what happens in the coming weeks.
Bayer Leverkusen are in the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they will face Roma. In the Bundesliga, Alonso's team is sixth and is fighting for a place in an international tournament.
