Xabi Alonso is having a great season as Bayer Leverkusen manager. His side have got the Europa League semi-finals. In the first leg, they lost 1-0 to Jose Mourinho's Roma, but they have still got the second leg to go.
Ahead of the match-up against the Italian side, Xabi Alonso spoke to the press. In the media room, the Spanish manager closed the door on two clubs who are following him, Real Madrid and Tottenham.
He was asked if he is planning to stay at Bayer Leverkusen and he was clear. "Yes, theat's right. I'm very happy with the team and the club", he said.
It was speculated that Real Madrid were thinking about getting Xabi Alonso to replace Carlo Ancelotti, even though with the Copa del Rey win Florentio Perez is happy and does not seem to be wanting to change coach. He will not be doing so if the side fall in the Champions League, either.
As for Tottenham, the Spurs are looking for a manager for a long-term project and the Leverkusen boss is one of the favourites of the board. However, in England, they are going to have to forget about him, at least for now.
