Since Xavi Simons left Barcelona's academy for PSG's youth academy, he has not been able to earn an important place in the Parisian first team. As a result, he has been on loan since the 2022/23 season, which he spent at PSV before experiencing the current season in Germany with RB Leipzig. His next destination could be Spain, according to ‘Mundo Deportivo’.
The Dutchman has a clause in his contract with the Parc des Princes outfit to enjoy decision-making power when the board envisage a loan move for him. He will now contact his club to let them know that his preference is to play for Barcelona next campaign.
Spanish coach Luis Enrique could be a problem for the potential reinforcement of Xavi Hernandez's squad as he has exhibited an obvious reliance on young talent such as Vitinha for his midfield this term and Simons is just 21 years old and has plenty of promise for the future.
With a contract until 2027 at PSG, the French side have the upper hand as long as they intend to keep him after the summer. If the priority is to loan him out again, it would be a great idea for Barcelona because, although a transfer agreement is unfeasible due to their financial problems, a loan deal could be arranged.
