Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is not going through his best period on the Barcelona bench. Two consecutive defeats against Girona in La Liga and Antwerp in the Champions League have left the team and the situation of the 'cules' boss in tatters.
"We are confident that the team will improve and find results after Saturday. This is a much less painful defeat because we are top of the group," said Xavi after Antwerp's defeat in UCL. The club are still in with a chance in four competitions and have finished top of the group to advance to the last 16 of the Champions League.
According to Spanish media 'AS', Xavi has not received the support of any member of the club's board of directors, including president Joan Laporta, Deco, Rafael Yuste, Joan Soler, Enric Masip and Bojan.
The Catalan giants' next league trip is to Valencia and they arrive in fourth place 7 points behind neighbours Girona. A defeat to Valencia would put Xavi in a "very weak position" as AS have commented, pointing out that former Barca boss Ronald Koeman was sacked in 2021 for being 6 points behind leaders Real Madrid.
