Robert Lewandowski was one of the names given by Xavi Hernandez to be released this summer. With Barcelona's decision to sack the coach, the Pole could continue.

Xavi Hernandez was preparing the squad for the 2024-25 season and therefore drew up a list of names of players he did not want to have next season. And among those names was that of Robert Lewandowski.
The programme ‘Gol a Gol’ on ‘TV3’ explained that Xavi did not want the Polish striker in the squad. Something had been broken in recent weeks when the striker was changed every other time in the last few minutes.
Barcelona's decision to terminate Xavi's services has made a big difference to the work ahead of next season and has brought Lewandowski closer to staying at Ciudad Condal.
Lewandowski was not the only striker on the list. There was also Vitor Roque, who was shown the exit door on loan and who has had few opportunities since his arrival in January.
The other players Xavi wanted to drop for next season were Joao Felix, who will return to Atletico Madrid after his loan spell, Oriol Romeu and Marcos Alonso. The latter two, barring any surprises, will also leave.
