Jurgen Klopp spoke about Trent Alexander-Arnold's new role as vice-captain and why he chose him in the press conference before the friendly match against Bayern Munich.

Klopp could have chosen Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah or Alisson to wear the captain's armband in Van Dijk's absence. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold was named as the Reds' vice-captain.
The German coach was asked about the new role of the right-back and why he chose him, to which he replied: "The vice-captaincy, I just think Trent is ready. He is our Scouser, he is playing for me pretty much since the beginning, if not then half a year later he was with us.
"He improved, he developed as a player and as a person massively. I wanted him to be in that role, we spoke about it and he was more than happy to take it because, again, it’s important that the boys understand the work behind the honour, let me say it like that. I think he likes that and he deserves it," concluded the former Dortmund coach.
The English full-back is set to start his eighth season with Liverpool, having made 273 official appearances, 252 starts, scoring 16 goals and providing 73 assists.
