Manchester United have a meeting with Newport County in the FA Cup. The Red Devils' opponents play in League Two, but for Ten Hag, the fact that they play in a lower league is no guarantee to win.
"Also in the Netherlands we have cup, we play the games against lower class teams," claimed Ten Hag. It is not the first time that the coach will have had to consider a match of this kind: "Always when you go, as a big club against a low class team, how you approach that."
Ten Hag wanted to make it clear that this does not mean that he looks down on his opponent, far from it. "Definitely, we are not in a position to underestimate any opponent," he added.
Finally, the coach acknowledged that the FA Cup is vital to his team's aspirations for 2023-24. To be eliminated would be a real blow. "It's the truth, but the league, qualification for the Champions League. FA Cup is, as you say, probably is, fact, a last opportunity on the trophy and we go for it," concluded the Man Utd boss.
