Ruben Amorim has begun his journey as Manchester United head coach on Monday, with his coaching staff from Sporting Lisbon also joining him at Old Trafford, as final details over their exits are being confirmed between the Red Devils and the Liga Revelação team.
The 39-year-old manager led the Portuguese club for the last time on Sunday night, overseeing a successful 4-2 comeback win over Braga. Although he has now left Sporting, he is yet to be allowed to officially work in England because he needs to secure a work permit first, as per the 'Mirror'.
Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro, goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital and sports scientist Paulo Barreira will all join Amorim once an agreement is reached between Man United and Sporting over their exits.
Fernandes, who is Amorim's long-time assistant manager, announced his decision to leave Sporting with an emotional Instagram post. “So many moments that I will cherish forever,” he wrote, as he shared various pictures from his four years at the club.
“There is no other feeling other than eternal gratitude towards those who helped us create something so special: players for whom there are no words, colleagues who became friends and everyone who always supported us. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.”
