The Anti-Violence Commission will analyse on Monday the racist incidents that occurred in the Real Madrid-Barcelona match on Saturday, according to the Spanish Sports Council (CSD), which condemned the events "strongly" and considered "unacceptable this behaviour".
"El Clasico’ is one of the greatest spectacles in the world, a true expression of the importance that football has in our country. In it, as in any other sporting event, there can never be any place for expressions of violence, racism, xenophobia, hatred or intolerance," it said.
In a statement, the organisation insisted on Sunday that the incidents "are far removed from the values of coexistence and respect inherent to sport" and added that for their "eradication, the work of everyone is essential and, in particular, the collaboration of the clubs".
"As has happened on previous occasions with other incidents, the events that occurred during the course of this match will be analysed by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport," it said, while announcing that its standing committee will meet next Monday.
The CSD recalled that the Anti-Violence Commission is the collegiate body responsible for the formulation and implementation of active policies against violence and intolerance and the prevention of racist, xenophobic and LGTBIphobic practices in sport.
Its Standing Committee is composed of representatives of the CSD, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Police Corps, the Civil Guard, the Spanish Football Federation, La Liga and other professional leagues and the State Attorney General's Office.
Real Madrid confirmed that they have launched an investigation to “locate and identify” “a few fans” who uttered racist insults after Lamine Yamal's goal in order to “take the appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures”.
La Liga also announced that it will immediately report the facts to the hate section of the National Police Information Brigade and the hate crimes and discrimination unit of the Attorney General's Office.
