Antony sends message to Man United

Antony dos Santos, who opened the scoring in Real Betis' victory over KAA Gent in the Conference League play-offs, spoke to the Movistar microphones in the mixed zone after the match. Asked about his remarkable form, he indicated that the happiness he feels since landing in Seville is the key because it contrasts sharply with what he has suffered recently as a Manchester United player.

Brazilian winger Antony dos Santos, scorer of Betis' first goal in their 3-0 win in the first leg of the Conference League round of 16 play-off, said that “now” he is “very happy” with his arrival at Betis and that he “needed to be like this for things to work out”.
“The most important thing is that, now, I am very happy to be at Betis, enjoying, every day, being here both me and my family. It was what I needed because I went through very difficult times,” Antony told reporters, referring to his last two and a half seasons at Manchester United, the club that loaned him to the green-and-white team in January.
The Brazil international, who will be 25 years old on February 24, is clear that he must now “do his best” to maintain the performance he is showing in his first matches with Betis.
The winger from São Paulo described as “incredible” the Betis fans, some 1,500 of whom travelled to Gent despite the inconveniences suffered due to the general strike called on Thursday in Belgium, and stressed that they know that the fans “play” with the team and “it is very important to receive their support, as in all matches, both at home and away”.
