Arsenal's Smith Rowe not worried by Havertz "competition"
Emile Smith Rowe has made it clear he isn't afraid to fight for his place in Arsenal's squad. Speaking to 'The Sun', he discussed the season ahead, and the new players that coach Mikel Arteta is bringing into the team, which so far look to be midfielders Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

Arsenal mean business this summer as they look to boost their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League. Having already announced the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea, and close to finalising the £105 million deal for West Ham's Declan Rice, the midfield at Emirates Stadium is getting a serious facelift.
However, new arrivals can mean new competition with existing squad members, as places in the starting XI are limited (to 11, unsurprisingly). One name that has raised some eyebrows is Emile Smith Rowe, who has had a difficult season, missing a large period due to a groin injury and then struggling to get game time once recovered.
He spoke to 'The Sun' about the new arrivals, and was positive about their impact: "I feel like the additions we’re making are going to really help the team progress again", he said.
“It’s really exciting so hopefully we can go one step further next season. Of course (it is extra competition with Havertz arrival), but this is football", he added.
He sees the new teammates as motivation: “You’ve just got to get on with it. I’ve got to keep working hard and it’s healthy competition. I’ve got to keep fighting”, he declared.
Although Smith Rowe missed out on a lot of last season with Arsenal, he is currently playing in the Under-21 Euros with England, and has scored twice in the competition, with the team preparing to face Portugal U21s on Sunday in the quarter-finals.
