Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has announced via his Instagram account that he recently underwent knee surgery, ending his involvement for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The Japanese player, who has only played six minutes this season, shared an emotional message with his followers, expressing his determination to get through this difficult time.
"I've had a surgery on my knee few days ago and l've already started my rehab to do what I love the most again.", Tomiyasu wrote in his post. The 26-year-old defender acknowledged that this has been the ‘toughest period’ of his career, but assured that he will not give up in the face of adversity.
The surgery is the second knee procedure Tomiyasu has had to face since joining Arsenal in 2021, raising concerns about his long-term future at the club.
Despite the setback, the player thanked the fans for their support and vowed to come back stronger. With this loss, Arsenal lose a versatile defender capable of playing in a number of positions.
