Riccardo Calafiori has reportedly suffered an injury, as he appeared to land awkwardly on his knee during the final moments of the 4-2 win over Leicester on Saturday. The defender was spotted clutching his left knee following the celebrations of Leandro Trossard's second gaol, and later on pictured with a knee compression sleeve, before reportedly leaving the Emirates Stadium in tears.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the player is a doubt in Monday's press conference ahead of the Champions League showdown against PSG on Tuesday. "Those [Calafiori and White] are the two players that are in contention and we have to review today," he said.
That said, the Arsenal boss did not hint at any major setback for the Italian international, who had suffered a serious injury to the same knee in 2018. "We didn’t do any training session yesterday," the Spaniard said. "He was a bit emotional after the game. Let’s see how he is today."
It is, therefore, understood that 22-year-old's injury is not thought to be serious. While the Calafiori remains a question mark for the match on Tuesday at the Emirates, Arsenal are guaranteed to be without Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney.
