Atletico host Real Madrid tonight at the Metropolitano and before the match, the directors of both teams have met for lunch. Enrique Cerezo, on his arrival at the restaurant, spoke to the media and, as always, made some controversial statements.
Asked about the possibility of insults against Vinicius, the Atletico president responded: "I don't consider that there is anyone anti-racist or racist among the fans. The fans are orderly. Like all the fans, some groups stir up these kinds of issues. We are always in favour of calm, of playing well."
He also wanted to play down the importance of the match and reminded that it is a game. "People go to watch football, not a war. I ask people to really behave as they should behave and as they have always behaved", he said.
As for the opponent to beat, he said that for Atletico all opponents are equal: "The opponent to beat for us is everyone, from the first to the last. We are at the level we want to be at. Madrid, Barcelona... What we need is luck and to win the game."
He didn't make any predictions but made it clear that his side will be going all out for the three points. "As always, we're going to go out to win," he concluded.
