Atletico's offices have not yet closed despite being one of the teams that have strengthened their squad during this summer transfer window. It seemed that the arrival of Juan Musso - yet to be confirmed - was going to be the last one, but the Spaniards have kept an ace up their sleeve.
According to 'The Athletic', the Madrid outfit are exploring the option of signing Matheus Nunes, who joined Manchester City last season but has had little chance on loan.
The arrival of Ilkay Gundogan just a few days ago has further plugged the few openings that Nunes could have to play under Pep Guardiola. Thus, Atletico see the option of asking for the loan of the former Wolves player for the current season.
There is no formal offer, only interest, but Atletico are not close to a possible arrival of the midfielder. The signing of Julian Alvarez could bring Nunes closer to the Metropolitano. Precisely the Argentinian could be the main endorsement of the Portuguese to sign for Diego Pablo Simeone's team.
