The Ballon d'Or gala ended on Monday 28th October with Rodri crowned as the best player of last season. The Manchester City midfielder beat the favourite Vinicius Jr, who was expected to win his first Ballon d'Or for his incredible season with Real Madrid.
For many football personalities, the Brazilian winger was unfairly voted for and should have been the one to win it, with "Vini" being shouted at the gala itself before Weah announced the winner of the award.
All these opinions do not seem to have affected Rodri who assured that being named as the winner was a victory for Spanish football. In addition, the Spain international made headlines after the gala after Manchester City posted a video of him mocking the Real Madrid star.
The Sky Blues deleted the post and uploaded another part of the video, although the original showed Rodri singing the song "Bella Ciao" but changed it to "Ay Vinicius, ciao, ciao, ciao, ciao".
