Barcelona will keep Alex Balde. The 'Cules' youth player overtook Jordi Alba and even Marcos Alonso on the left in Xavi Hernandez's plans. In the case of the latter, he often had to play as a centre-back.
'Sport' revealed on Monday that the Catalan giants will renew the Spaniard until 30th June 2027. A deal that will be settled with the 1,000 million euros termination clause, a repeated method of Joan Laporta, who already applied it with both Pedri Gonzalez and Gavi.
The key to the Alex Balde deal: Jorge Mendes. The player's agent maintains a great relationship with the Barcelona board and, despite the possible interest of third parties, the plan has always been to continue at the Camp Nou side.
Xavi Hernandez guarantees him the playing time he needs to develop his potential. His level this season led him to be Luis de la Fuente's starting left-back in his debut as Spain coach against Norway at La Rosaleda.
Alex Balde's renewal will be joined by that of Inaki Pena. The full-back has already given the go-ahead, while that of Marc-Andre ter Stegen's substitute goalkeeper is just around the corner.
