The rumours about Angelo Gabriel had ceased to be a possibility for Barcelona, but the talk of a move for him has returned. According to 'Sport', Barcelona tried to sign the Santos FC player in the last days of the winter transfer window.
Apparently, a member of Barca's board called the Brazilian club in the last days of last January to try to convince them to loan with an option to buy their young and promising 18-year-old player, a right winger for whom the 'Cules' have been dreaming since January 2022.
According to the aforementioned media outlet, Santos was pleased with the offer from FC Barcelona and the operation was underway. The plan was for the young Brazilian international to be signed by Barca Atletic due to the limitations of the Financial Fair Play, but in the end, Xavi Hernandez did not approve his arrival and the club preferred to rule out his arrival, opting to focus all their efforts on registering Gavi as a first team player.
Angelo has been on Barcelona's radar for a year now, just when the club acquired a right of first refusal and a preferential purchase option on the then 17-year-old Brazilian player.
The Santos youth player, an Under 20 international with Brazil, has a contract with his club until 2024 and would be valued by the 'Selecao' side at around 35 million euros.
