Benzema and Firmino on Chelsea radar
'The Telegraph' reported the possibility of Chelsea signing Karim Benzema or Roberto Firmino to address their goal drought, taking advantage of their apparent unhappiness in the Saudi Pro League.

In recent days, a report from 'The Telegraph' linking Karim Benzema to Chelsea has spread like wildfire on social media. It is true, but it should be treated with caution. The reports originate from a paragraph in an article by Matt Law, who discusses what Mauricio Pochettino needs to think about in order to improve his side's attacking performances. It mentions the possibility of bringing in Karim Benzema or Roberto Firmino along those lines.
Even so, there is no information that there have been any talks or negotiations for any of them. In fact, the journalist underlines that the coach has already said, on more than one occasion, that he does not need a striker and that the board could take advantage of this to avoid repeating past mistakes in the transfer market. Mykhailo Mudryk - costing 100 million euros - is the main exponent of a 'Boehly ownership' policy that has not worked, or at least has not worked so far.
The Frenchman has been in the eye of the storm for not showing up to Al Ittihad's pre-season training camp. Marcelo Gallardo, his coach, has punished him by leaving him out of the squad's training camp at the Emirates. It has not been leaked, as it has happened with Jordan Henderson, that he is working on his departure from the Middle East, but these tiffs with his boss suggest that he would welcome a change of scenery.
Roberto Firmino has also been mentioned in the barrage of social media posts quoting The Telegraph's report on Benzema and Chelsea, but he also features in Matt Law's article. Regarding the Brazilian, the British press has already said that he is unhappy with his decision last summer, when he left Liverpool. Now, perhaps he would give the green light to return to the Premier League to join a direct rival.
