Time is running out for Sergio Ramos. Without a club after the end of his contract with PSG, the 37-year-old centre-back is now looking for the last challenge of his career. Since announcing his departure from Paris, a number of candidates have stepped forward to secure his services.
Saudi Arabia, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina are just some of the countries the player has been linked with for next season, but for the time being he prefers to continue playing in Europe. After being rejected by Sevilla a few days ago, the Spaniard was recently turned down by Turkey. The reason? His salary.
Besiktas vice-president Emre Kocadag confirmed that he had been in contact with the former Real Madrid man and said that he had ruled out signing him because of his financial demands. "According to some media reports, Ramos is asking for €5 million, but that's not the case; he's asking for more than double that. At the moment, if Ramos goes to Saudi Arabia, he'll be paid between 23 and 25 million euros.
"I've explored every possibility to get him to sign, but it seems impossible. The salary and the amount his agent is asking for are €15 million. We are no longer in talks," said Kocadag.
