Bayern Munich are finding it more difficult to get a replacement for Manuel Neuer than expected. He suffered a tibia and fibula fracture while on holiday skiing and will miss the rest of the season.
It is a very tough ask for Bayern who, despite chosing a replacement, have once again come up empty. That is because Borussia Monchengladbach have not intention of letting Yann Sommer leave halfway through the season.
Sommer was the man chose by the Bavarian club, but in the last few hours, Gladbach's sporting director Roland Virkus has made it clear in comments to German paper 'Rheinische Post' that they will not let the goalkeeper leave.
"We will not get rid of Yann Sommer and we've let Bayern Munich know. Yann knows my opinion. And he also enough experience to deal with this speculation. He trains every day with great professionalism. The plan is for him to play in the last two friendlies before the Bundesliga returns," Virkus concluded.
