Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos said he was "very sad to have to stop" at what he felt was his "best moment" after suffering an "injury to the semimembranosus muscle with tendon involvement in his left leg" that will keep him sidelined for nearly two months.
"Very sad not to be able to help my team in this very important part of the season. And very sad to have to stop at what I felt was my best moment...", he shared on his social networks.
"But football is like that, it's not always easy, and even less fair. So I have to face it with strength, with the desire to fight and with the certainty that I will come back even stronger. It's not over. I have come out of worse. Thanks for all your love... See you soon, sooner than you think. HALA MADRID!" he added.
Ceballos was injured in a collision with Takefusa Kubo in stoppage time, after which he had to leave the field of play without being able to rest his left leg on the ground normally and was helped by Real Madrid's medical services. And on Thursday the worst predictions were confirmed.
"Following tests carried out today on Dani Ceballos by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle affecting the tendon in his left hamstring. His recovery will be assessed."
