Axel Disasi could be on his way out of Chelsea after agreeing on personal terms with Aston Villa. The 26-year-old has been rumoured to leave the Blues less than two years since arriving from Monaco in a deal worth almost £40 million as he has been struggling to secure a starting place under Enzo Maresca.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman held direct contact with Villa head coach Unai Emery, who was crucial in convincing the player about a potential move to Birmingham. Having been given the green light from Disasi, it will now be up to the Villains to finalise a deal with Chelsea.
Aston Villa have been in search of reinforcements in the backline following the departure of Diego Carlos, who flew to Turkey to join Mourinho's Fenerbahce, as well as the injuries to Pau Torres and now Tyrone Mings, who was forced off the pitch in tears during the first half of Villa's draw with West Ham.
But Disasi is not the only option the Midlands side have been exploring as Juan Flyoth recently emerged as a candidate for the centre-back position. The 27-year-old Argentina could be set for a possible reunion with Emery after spending three years together at Villarreal.
