Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez said that Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of faith in him and claimed that his arrival at Stamford Bridge was his "final decision".
"It's a very good win, especially because we're struggling a bit in the league, so we need to get some confidence. A win like this, in a game that was a bit dirty, is perfect for us," Sanchez told 'EFE' after the Blues' League Cup win over Brighton.
"We are through to the next round, Nico has scored a goal and now we have to keep doing the same for the next game," he added.
This victory was special for the Spanish goalkeeper as he beat the club he had been at since the age of 15. "It tastes better, much better, it multiplies it tenfold," he responded to the question of whether it tastes better or worse to beat his former club.
Sanchez's arrival at Chelsea came after Roberto de Zerbi decided to remove him from the starting line-up in the final stretch of last season and as the opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge opened up with the departures of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
"I knew I was going to end up somewhere playing. I came here 100% knowing that it was going to be my final decision. I'm happy with the team, happy with the coach, he has a lot of faith in me and now I have to do my best," he concluded.
