Chelsea are up and running, at least in attack. The Blues, coached this season by Mauricio Pochettino, claimed an important victory against Brighton on the first day of the Premier League Summer Series in the United States.
De Zerbi's side, one of the suprise packages of last season's Premier League, stood up to the challenge despite being a man down for half an hour. After beating Wrexham, the Blues came up against a bigger rival, the Seagulls. In the match, the new signings showed why they have arrived at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had to come back from Danny Welbeck's early goal, set up by Mitoma. After 19 minutes, Nkunku scored his second goal as a Blue when he made the most from a rebound inside the box after Carney's play to level the scores.
As usual in this type of match, both teams changed their squads after the break. Van Hecke's playing time was short-lived, leaving Brighton a man down with 2 yellow cards in 3 minutes, with half an hour left in the game.

Pochettino's team took advantage of that numerical superiority. Nicolas Jackson took just two minutes to assist Mudryk, who looks a different man to the one who arrived in London.
Again he popped up in the box to set up Conor Gallagher, who only had to push the ball into the net to make it 3-1. Jackson put the icing on the cake by scoring his first goal as a Chelsea player. Cucurella set him up with long ball and the former Villarreal player, in a one on one situation, beat Verbruggen with a clinical finish.
