A few days ago the Italian press spoke of open talks between Como and Barcelona for the signing of Eric Garcia. There was even a strong offer of 10 million euros for the signing of the centre-back. However, everything seems to indicate that the Azulgrana defender will remain with Flick.
Former Barca player and coach of the Italian side Fabregas made it clear at a press conference that he is not counting on the arrival of the defender: "Eric Garcia will not join us. There is no chance, especially after the goal he scored against Benfica in the Champions League."
The Cubarsi-Inigo Martinez pairing limited Eric's playing options, and it seemed that with the return of Ronald Araujo he could be even further behind. However, Martinez's injury opened the door and Barca have reportedly asked him to stay until the end of the season. He already had minutes against Betis and scored in the comeback against Benfica.
"We will sign a centre-back and we are very close to a full-back," added Fabregas. The Como boss was also questioned about the possible signing of Barca left-back Alex Valle, who has been playing for Celtic this season. "Until we are sure we can't say anything," he concluded.
