Cristiano Ronaldo held talks with Marseille
Marseille ambassador Basile Boli confirmed to 'Sport1' that there were talks to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. In the end, talks were unsuccessful and the Portuguese is a now a free agent after leaving Man Utd. Apparently, Ronaldo did not do much to help the move to Marseille be completed. At least that is what can be interpreted from Boli's comments.

Cristiano Ronaldo could have been a Marseille player right now. Several articles came out in the press that the French club had bidded for him, but it results that a club ambassador told 'Sport1' that there was talks so that his move to Ligue 1 could become a reality. They did not end well and now, the former Man Utd man is looking for a new project.
"He was in talks with Marseille. I think he should have come to Marseille. He would have brought something to the French league. He's a talented player although he's a bit old. In a league like the French league, I think he could still send shivers down teams' spines," Marseille ambassador Basile Boli said.
Continuing with Boli's comments, it is true that the former Juventus and Real Madrid man has never tried his luck in the French League. He does have experience in the Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and English leagues. Therefore, he has still yet to play in two top European leagues: the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. In any case, it does not seem like he is very keen on these ideas.
One of the destinations he has most been linked with is Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia. It would be a calm destination for Cristiano Ronaldo, who would receive him like a legend. He would not have any difficulty starting matches and he could earn a lot of money at the back end of his career to help him with his personal and business projects. He was recently seen training at Real Madrid to keep up his match fitness.
