Through a statement on social media, the Eintracht Frankfurt board announced their first signing for next season. The last Europa League champions moved quickly and welcomed William Pacho.
The German club took the lead over several other top clubs who were interested in him and secured the 21-year-old Ecuadorian defender, who is coming off the back of a good season with Belgian club Royal Antwerp.
"The 21-year-old defender will join the club on 1st July 2023 and will sign a contract until 2028," Eintracht said on its Twitter account, where it also posted a picture of the player posing with his Frankfurt shirt on.
During the 2022-23 season, Pacho made a total of 33 appearances for Royal Antwerp, where he became one of the key players of the defence. His strong performances attracted interest from several clubs, but in the end his career will continue in the Bundesliga.
For his part, it is worth noting that the young defender has also started to get some experience in the Ecuadorian national team. Without going any further, he was part of the squad that represented the South American country at the last World Cup in Qatar 2022.
