Robert Sanchez has not had an easy debut season at Chelsea. The Spanish goalkeeper signed for the Blues last summer from Brighton for £25m to become Mauricio Pochettino's first choice goalkeeper.
However, an injury against Everton saw the keeper lose his place in the starting XI and drop down the pecking order behind Djordje Petrovic, a Serbian goalkeeper who also signed for Chelsea last summer from MLS side New England Revolution.
In light of this situation, there has been speculation that the Spanish goalkeeper could leave the club just one season after arriving, but the hiring of new coach Enzo Maresca has come as a natural fit for the former Seagull.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Leicester boss is keen to work with Robert Sanchez ahead of next season and has told the Blues board that it is essential they keep the Spanish goalkeeper this summer.
