Fabian Ruiz scored and assisted against Georgia in the round of 16, as he did on the first day of Euro 2024 against Croatia. Before facing Germany in the quarterfinals, the player assured that they "want to do something historic".
"Any opponent is difficult in the quarterfinals. We know what a great team Germany are, the players they have... And they are playing at home, but we are confident in ourselves. We have a lot of illusion and desire to do something historic," he said on 'TVE'.
Fabian made a good assessment of the victory against Georgia (4-1) despite having to come from behind. "Happy with the pass and the victory. It was very important and we got it. We played a great second half. In the first half we were not calm enough with the ball, we lost several easy passes that they were waiting to counterattack," said the player from Seville.
"They took advantage of the own goal, but after Rodri scored it was us, with calm and pause, we took advantage of the spaces to score goals when they lowered their intensity in the second half," he added.
Fabian acknowledged mistakes to be corrected, such as the "nervousness" in the first half. "We played with too much speed and restlessness, wanting to finish the play quickly and that's not what the match required at that moment," he said.
"When we were patient, we moved the ball from side to side and spaces arrived that we took good advantage of. We played a great second half, leaving everything on the field," he concluded.
