FC Barcelona and Barcelona Global announced on Tuesday a collaboration agreement to boost the city's international projection.
The association, which brings together 256 companies, research centres and institutions, said in a statement that it has signed an agreement with the football club "for the next three seasons".
The aim of the collaboration agreement is to "identify, study and analyse possibilities for joint action and cooperation" in order to strengthen Barcelona's image abroad and reinforce its position as a "benchmark city in the world" in terms of generating and attracting talent and investment.
The sports club will become a full member of the supervisory board, Barcelona Global's governing body, made up of 70 businessmen and executives, and will attend its general assembly of members, where the association's projects are presented and future objectives are approved.
The agreement was made official at a meeting attended by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, the club's institutional vice-president Elena Fort, Barcelona Global president Ramon Agenjo and its general manager Mercè Conesa.
After the meeting, the president of the sports club presented his counterpart from Barcelona Global with the official shirt for the 2024-2025 season, the business association said in a statement.
The collaboration will allow the club's role in "strengthening the positioning of the city in the global competitive scenario" and ensuring that the Barcelona brand "is present all over the world", added Barcelona Global.
The agreement "highlights FC Barcelona as an entity that contributes to the positioning of Barcelona", said Laporta, who also highlighted "the opportunity to work together on strategic projects and capture possible business opportunities that favour the city".
Agenjo, for his part, welcomed the possibility of strengthening ties with the club and "joining forces to continue leading and influencing to make Barcelona a global benchmark for talent, which has a positive impact on sustainable and inclusive growth".
