Fernando Torres continues to make his way at Atletico Madrid. After leading the youth team to the top of the category, now the Madrid club has decided to give him the opportunity to coach to the reserve team, Atletico B.
Torres will be the coach next season of the 'Colchoneros' reserve team, which plays in Primera RFEF, after having achieved the League-Champions Cup double in the campaign that has just ended.
"I'm at home and I feel a huge responsibility since I decided to take on this new stage. It's been three years of constant learning," Torres said upon the announcement of his new role.
"For me, this step is very important and I want to be ambitious to do things better every day, to face the challenges ahead and the responsibility in the best way and at the same time knowing that I am in no hurry and have no need to make a false step. I accept it as a great challenge with a lot of ambition and the peace of mind of knowing that we are ready,’ he added.
Torres is clear that he has to go in calmly: "The first thing is to know what the objective of a reserve team is, which is to contribute many players to the first team. We have to insist to the players that their dream has to be to play for Atletico Madrid and prepare them for the first team. The best way to do that is to compete and face a very complicated category with ambition, knowing that Atletico Madrid demand that you give your all".
"To try to compete as well as possible, to have the team as high up the table as possible because that is what will prepare them for what comes next, which hopefully will be our first team," he said.
