The Club World Cup as we know it will change radically in 2025. Last December, the FIFA council decided to expand it to 32 teams and this Tuesday, they unanimously approved the number of teams from each Confederation.
The decision, which was taken based on a series of objective criteria, sees 12 teams for UEFA, six for CONMEBOL and four each for Asia, Africa and CONCACAF. Oceania will have one team while the host team will be from the host country.
It is not known how teams will qualify for the competition. For European teams, the winners of the Europa League and Conference League could be included.
As for the 2023 Club World Cup, FIFA confirmed that it will take place in Saudi Arabia between 12th and 22 December with the usual seven team format.
