After his low profile spell at Chelsea, it seems that Timo Werner is very close to returning to the Premier League on loan from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig to Tottenham, despite rumours from Sky Sports News linking him with Manchester United.
According to a club statement on X, the German striker was not in the RB Leipzig squad for the club's match against St Gallen and according Fabrizio Romano, the forward could join Ange Postecoglou's side in the next 48 hours, with the London club reportedly set to cover his wages 100% until June.
Son Heung-Min's absence for Postecoglou's side for the Asian Cup has forced them to move in the transfer window to cover his position and Werner could help Spurs in attacking areas.
The 27-year-old has made 14 official appearances in all competitions for the German club, scoring just two goals and providing one assist.
