West Ham United have held talks with Julen Lopetegui about his availability for next season. According to 'EFE', the English club have been in talks for months with the Spanish coach, who has been free since he decided to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer due to the club's lack of investment, the departure of important players such as Matheus Nunes and the few guarantees that they would not incur in irregularities with the 'Financial Fair Play'.
West Ham is one of the Premier League's dugouts set to be open for business this summer once David Moyes' departure is confirmed.
The Scottish manager is under contract until 30th June next, but will not renew after a season in which the team's play has taken several steps backwards, they have been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and, despite not suffering in the Premier League, qualification for Europe looks complicated, with 2 points behind 6th placed Newcastle United and 2 games in hand.
Lopetegui, since leaving Wolves, has made no secret of his intention to return to the Premier League and was in talks with Nottingham Forest prior to the hiring of Nuno Espirito Santo. He has also spent much of this time in England to improve his language skills. There has also been interest from Italy, where the Milan bench is to be freed up, and from Germany.
