Getafe targeting Spurs left-back Sergio Reguilon
Sergio Reguilon has not played a single minute this season for Tottenham and, barring a surprise, will not do so either if he stays in London. One of the options on the horizon for him is Getafe, who according to ‘Superdeporte’ are very interested in signing him in the winter.

When Sergio Reguilon began to make his mark at Real Madrid and won the Europa League as an undisputed starter at Sevilla, few expected his career to take this turn. However, the Madrid full-back faces what is now his third season with virtually no playing time. For the time being, he has not played a single minute for Tottenham and has only been called up twice this season.
Although he had two years of being quite involved, especially with Jose Mourinho (some will remember that he assisted Lamela in his ‘Puskás’ goal winner), in 2022 everything started to go wrong for him. He went out on loan to Atletico, where he was not accepted because he was from the eternal rivals and did not start a game until the second last day of the season. Last season he went on loan first to Manchester United, where he did not have continuity either, and after cancelling the loan he went to Brentford.
Far from finding redemption on his return, Ange Postecoglou left Reguilon out of pre-season and he has yet to feature. He was recalled to the bench in the EFL Cup against Coventry and also followed Tottenham's draw against Fulham from the sidelines on Sunday, but without minutes. Although the Spaniard has trained hard to prove to his manager that he deserves a chance, it is clear that his future does not lie in London.
Sergio Reguilon's contract with Spurs expires next summer, so any move he makes in the winter will be an early farewell. According to ‘Superdeporte’, one of the clubs that have shown interest in the Madrid full-back is Getafe, who would allow him to return to his homeland and he would probably play a much bigger role than at Tottenham.
The Madrid side are in a difficult financial situation, so it seems unlikely that they will pay a transfer in January, even if it is a symbolic amount. What is being considered is that Reguilon arrives on loan at the Coliseum outfit until the end of the season, with Getafe agreeing to pay part of his salary to offload Tottenham, who will look kindly on the departure of a player who is not going to play.
For his part, the Spaniard also believes that this is a good alternative to spend a whole season on the bench. It remains to be seen if he will use Getafe as a temporary team or if he will commit himself in the future. On the 1st of January he will be free to start negotiating with whoever he wants, but the first thing he has to do is to solve his future for the next six months.
