Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa described the temporary suspension of the match against Real Madrid due to the throwing of objects at goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from the stands of the Metropolitano as a “very ugly situation” that he hopes “will not happen again”.
“A very ugly situation that I hope does not happen again both for the people who made the effort to see a good show and a great game and the people who followed it from everywhere on TV. It is not good that these things happen. The referee decided that it had to stop for a moment, the players went into the dressing room, cooled down, started up again, the match went a bit crazy by itself.... Don't let it happen again,” he told 'DAZN'.
On the sporting side, Correa scored the equaliser in the 95th minute. “Once again, today, it happened and we are happy because we did not lose this match against a great rival, but we wanted to give a victory to our people for the way they received us before the match and for the way they supported us during the 90 minutes or more that were played. Let's continue in this way, I think the team is in a great moment,” he said.
“The other day, I had a little chat with him (Simeone) where I explained it to him, that sometimes it is difficult for me to be mentally strong because you have been there for a long time and you always want to play, you want to be there and it always seems like it costs a little more, but I am aware of where I am, that nobody gave me anything and, for that reason, I do not give up and also because of the support of my teammates, who believe in me,” he added.
