Ter Stegen's injury against Villarreal shocked the football world. The German goalkeeper hurt himself in the fall and ended up rupturing a tendon in his right knee, which will cause him to miss the whole season.
Undoubtedly, one of the most affected was Yeremy Pino, who was unable to contain his emotions on the pitch. He told DAZN's 'Super 8' programme.
"Honestly, I've just come from a serious knee injury, and to see it so close, and to see what he was suffering and screaming, how his knee looked, it was very hard to watch. I know what you go through at that moment in your head and everything and I couldn't control the tears," he said.
And he even felt a bit responsible for being involved in the play: "I was also involved in the play, it was nothing to intentionally hurt him, in the end, it was an accumulation of things that I couldn't control my feelings and I burst into tears, five minutes I was crying and playing.
"Nobody had noticed his knee, he complains about his back and suddenly he looks at his knee and we all looked at his knee and his kneecap was out," he continued.
Finally, Yeremy Pino inquired about Ter Stegen's condition: "I asked Robert [Lewandowski] when we left the dressing room how he was, to give him lots of encouragement. And to Pedri and Lamine and Ansu, who I'm sorry if I was a nuisance there, to give him lots of encouragement and a speedy recovery."
