Xavi Hernandez described Barcelona's season as "remarkable" after his side's defeat at Balaidos, where he admitted they did not play "a good game", but was pleased that Poland's Robert Lewandowski won the Golden Boot trophy and German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen the Zamora.
"In terms of attitude, effort and sacrifice there is nothing to say to the players, but I don't think we were good in the game. We had chances in the first half, but they were fighting for survival and that was noticeable", commented the coach.
He congratulated Ter Stegen because "he is the best goalkeeper in the world and he is in his best moment", and as for his side's sporting future he admitted that they need to "strengthen" to form a more competitive squad.
"Barca are always under pressure, especially in European competitions. We have to be competitive, we need two players per position. I think we need to strengthen very well," warned Xavi Hernandez.
On possible departures: "I don't know if it will be the last game for any of them. What it will be this week is definitive to know if we can make any moves. It's a key week to plan and see what scenario we're going to have to strengthen".
