Football has that kind of person who dazzles everyone everywhere he goes. One of them is Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is in Malaga on Friday to play a legends match with the Spanish club. Just before that he was in Madrid and spoke to 'Marca'.
The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Malaga striker has fond memories of Spanish football, where he would like to coach a team after his experience at PSV.
"I would like to, yes, I played in the Netherlands, England, Germany and Spain. These four countries are options because I speak the languages, I have the experience of having lived in these countries and I would like to be in these leagues. It's true that Spain has something special for me, I have to say that," he confessed.
Van Nistelrooy defines himself as a coach who likes to prepare "to the maximum". "I have the discipline of being prepared to perform to the maximum in life, in whatever field. As a coach, I'm the same. I have the discipline to work, to prepare things well, to execute the plans with the players. I also have a good capacity for analysis, because you have to be humble to detect when you haven't been right in your approach, for example. Regarding the style of play, I like to keep posession", he added.
The former Dutch striker spent a week under Carlo Ancelotti, learning the Real Madrid methodology in the middle of the season under the Italian coach.
"He told me that there are no secrets in football and welcomed me to be at all the meetings and training sessions. He and his coaching staff opened up and I appreciate that. His experiences are crazy and to see what life as a coach is like when you start, how you learn, how you change.... It helped me a lot", he confessed.
He also spoke about his former team-mate Raul, now coach of Real Madrid's reserve team: "He's ready for something much bigger, with all due respect. He is a man we all know, serious, prepared, intelligent, experienced.... I see him coaching in the Bundesliga or La Liga very soon".
