Juve back Fagioli after betting scandal

Nicolo Fagioli will be banned from playing for Juventus for the next seven months. The 22-year-old midfielder was suspended after being caught up in a betting scandal that also involved Nicolo Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali.
However, his club have shown their full support from the outset. "We are convinced that he will face the process responsibly and return to competition," the club said in a statement after the player's disqualification. And now, that support is going to become palpable.
According to a report by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are set to renew Fagioli's contract. The player still has a contract until 30th June 2026, but the Vecchia Signora want to show their full confidence in him with 2 more years, i.e. until 2028.
Moreover, the Italian club will raise his salary. The midfielder is currently paid around 1.6 million euros per year. This amount will increase, although the exact amount he will receive has not been specified.
In this way, Juve are supporting a youth player who came through the youth ranks of the Italian club until he made his debut with the first team in the 2020/21 season.
He then went on loan to Cremonese (3 goals and 7 assists in 33 games) before returning and playing an important role last season (3 goals and 4 assists in 37 games). This campaign, he had played in six matches.
