Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said at the conclusion of his first training session with the German side that they have to "put the focus on being at the top again" after a season without silverware.
In an interview with the Bavarian club's press, the coach claimed that it is noticeable from the start that it is a "new stage and the mentality is there immediately".
"You have to learn a few things and be mentally prepared from the start. The squad has to have 100 per cent concentration and intensity to achieve success. I'm really looking forward to the season with this team. Now, we are making sure everyone is perfect and everything is right in this pre-season," said the former Burnley boss.
Asked about his coaching staff, which will be made up of three assistants, Kompany said: "Aaron Danks is one of the most talented coaches in England. He has been an assistant coach for many years and has also coached a number of youth teams.

"Floribert N'Galula played with me in the youth teams of Anderlecht. He signed for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson influenced him a lot and his understanding and empathy are very relevant qualities for a coaching staff. And Rene Maric was already on the coaching staff and he has a lot of knowledge. He is someone who will help me a lot on the field."
On the language he will use for training, the Belgian explained that, for him, "the important thing is to be clear" and said that, although he can now "explain some things in German2, at the moment, "the language of this business is English", like all his football terminology.
"It will take a while until I can translate everything. Maybe that will change in the next few years, but at the moment the language of choice is English. I come from Belgium, which is a small country where we communicate in all languages. It is essential to motivate the players to learn and communicate in German," concluded.
