The young Barcelona player Lamine Yamal has signed a contract with Adidas as his new sponsor and, like the Argentine Leo Messi, is leaving Nike to join the German multinational. The German company announced this Monday in a statement confirming "a long-term partnership" with the 16-year-old Spanish international.
Since the end of January, Lamine Yamal has been trying out his new boots, albeit all in white, and it was not until the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Napoli (1-1) that he wore the model of his choice. According to the German brand's press release, the Barcelona striker will wear the Adidas X Crazyfast Leo Messi 'Spark Gen10s'; he is the only player besides Messi himself to do so.
This is not the only similarity between the Catalan footballer and the Rosarino, who, in 2006, left the US multinational Nike and signed a contract with Adidas, a path identical to the one that the young Barca star will follow in 2024. "I'm proud to join Adidas, as it has always been the brand of the best. Growing up, I idolised Leo Messi, who has been with Adidas since I started watching football," said the Barça player in a statement released by the German company.
Lamine Yamal is the great revelation of Barcelona, with whom, this season, he has played 35 games, scored 5 goals and has provided 4 assists, establishing himself as one of the promising players called to lead the Catalan giants and the Spanish national team. Since his first game with Spain last September 8th against Georgia, in which, at 16 years and 57 days, he was the youngest debutant and scorer in the history of 'la Roja', he has become a permanent fixture in the call-ups of the national team coach, Luis de la Fuente.
