An injury-hit Liverpool were facing an EFL Cup semi-final against a Fulham side who had scored three goals on their last visit to Anfield. The game started with both teams sharing spells of possession until in the 19th minute, Willian's shot from inside the box beat Kelleher from Pereira's pass to give the Cottagers the lead. It was not until the 68th minute that Liverpool equalised when Jones' strike from the edge of the box was touched by a Fulham player and turned into an equaliser. Just two minutes later, Gakpo gave Klopp's men the lead for the first time in the match, scoring from Darwin Nunez's low cross from the left flank. Liverpool beat Fulham in a narrow win and the Cottagers will need a victory at Craven Cottage if they are to reach the next EFL Cup final.
