Arne Slot's Liverpool have started the season with sporting successes, but will end it without several of their mainstays if they do not react to remedy this. Mohamed Salah has already confirmed that he will not renew his contract, which expires on 30 June 2025, as has Virgil van Dijk.
The Netherlands international is keen to sign an extension which, according to 'Football Insider', is already underway. The centre-back was asked after his country's 5-2 win over Bosnia about his future situation and let slip that his renewal is practically finalised.
"In both teams, I'm still Virgil van Dijk and I definitely want to keep it that way for the next two years. I am human and I also have feelings, especially right after a game where you get knocked out in the last minute.
"I understand that my position was not clear after the match because I was disappointed and full of emotions. Maybe I gave the impression that it was my last international game because I hinted at it," he said.
