Madrid are thinking about signing a striker, but some doubts have come up. The favourite for the position is Tottenham's Harry Kane. The problem, according to 'AS', is that the Englishman would be after a long-term contract, while the Blancos were thinking about signing Erling Haaland from City next summer.

The 2022-23 season is about to end and clubs are thinking about next term. In Madrid's case, they're thinking about signing a striker.
Carlo Ancelotti knows what he wants. The striker the club need is Harry Kane. The side have been following him for a while and think he could fit the side well, but there's a problem with another man who goes by the name of Erling Haaland.
'AS' have reported that Los Blancos' main aim would be to get Haaland in 2024. Therefore, what they fear is that by getting Kane in, it would put off the Norwegian.
This is how the picture lookds: Mariano will leave and will leave a free spot, meaning the club are thinking in signing a striker so that the coach has another option up top. Karim Benzema will still be the side's main man and Alvaro Rodriguez will be a bench warmer for the first team. Kane would fit the bill of being that second striker that the Spaniards are looking for.
Madrid are looking for a forward who would accept a short-term deal and, as well as someone who, when Haaland supposedly comes in in 2024, wil accept a secondary role. With this in mind, it's possible the Tottenhm man will have second thoughts. Even if he does say yes, the club's other big fear is that they have too many strikers.
If this summer Madrid get Kane, before getting Haaland next year, you've got to be asking what would happen with Benzema. If the Frenchman decided to stay, the 'Merengues' would have 3 world class strikers fighting for a spot in the starting eleven, something which could end up being something which would hinder more than help the Madrid side.
