Harry Maguire had to be substituted due to injury in Manchester United's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League last night. The defender had to be treated by the Red Devils' doctors and Matthis De Ligt replaced him as the Englishman did not return to the field in the second half.
Erik ten Hag said after the game that a proper diagnosis was needed, which seems to have been confirmed on Tuesday as the England international wrote about his injury in an Instagram post.
“Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I’ll come back stronger,” wrote Maguire on his Instagram account.
Maguire has made nine appearances for Old Trafford side this season, starting six games and coming on as a substitute on three occasions.
With this injury the Red Devils' defensive options for the Dutch coach are De Ligt, Johnny Evans and Lisandro Martinez, as well as Victor Lindelof who is available again.
