Deco, Barca's sporting director, explained the steps Barca are taking to sign players. ‘We are saving money because we are developing well,’ he said. He also assured that, to sign players, it is not enough for them to aspire to play at Camp Nou: he wants them to be committed to the project and to dream big.

Lamine Yamal "would play for the best Barcelona" in history, said Deco, sporting director of the Azulgrana team during the ‘Thinking Football Summit’, organised by the Portuguese League in Porto on Thursday.
Deco said that "Lamine has been special since he was very young" and highlighted his ‘technical ability, completely different’ to the rest.
He also praised the mental capacity, "different to what we are used to seeing" of the winger, who manages "not to feel the weight" of representing Barcelona or the Spanish national team on the big stages.
In his participation in the Portuguese forum, Deco spoke in depth about the role of La Masia in his project for the present and future of Barcelona and assured that when he arrived at Camp Nou he found ‘little coordination’ between the youth academy and professional football.
According to the former Portuguese international, "Barcelona's success story has always been youth players alongside players who have won something but have not yet reached the peak of success".
On the profile of the player he is looking for, Deco was clear: "I know there are many players who want to play for Barcelona, but we want players who dream of winning with Barcelona, which is something completely different."
"We want players who want and dream of winning at Barcelona, that's the secret for us to win again and that's what we're going to do," he concluded.
