Paris Saint-Germain want to remake their side revolve around their youngest star, Kylian Mbappe, at the expense of other of their two main men Lionel Messi and Neymar, according to 'Le Parisien'.
The newspaper, who are considered as an unofficial club source reported that the Parisian club's side, rebuilt last sumer, "is in ruins", and that they need to rebuild it ahead of next season.
Their early exit from the Champions League and their shaky run in the league have left a lot to be desired, and it seems to have covinced the board that they need to freshen up the project.
The drastic need to reduce their wage bill in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules has made president Al-Khelaifi convinced that they need to "clean out" in the summer to have enough money to start with their reconstruction.
The first one to go would be Messi, who came in on a free in the summer of 2021, despite having basically agreed a renewal with him after the Qatar World Cup.
However, his mediocre performances since he's become world champion, as well as his high wages and age are making a renewal more difficult, according to 'Le Parisien'.
What's more complicated will be Neymar's case, who's under contract until 2027. Finding a club which wants to sign the Brazil will prove to be very difficult due to his age and high salary, but also due to his reputation of picking up injuries each season.
On the other hand, Mbappe seems to be the ideal pillar on which to base the rebuild, as he's got all the qualities they're looking for: he's young, French and a fighter.
'Le Parisien' claimed that PSG want to look for young French talent, such as Kolo Muani, Thuram and Fofana. They also can't rule out names such as Tchouameni and Upamecano.
